In a major development, the new trophy of the FIDE Chess World Cup 2025 has been renamed after Indian chess legend Viswanathan Anand. It will be called the Viswanathan Anand, honouring the contributions that the five-time world champion has made to chess.

Following Manchester Originals' Sanjiv Goenka's confirmation, the Oval Invincibles, who sold their 49 per cent stake to the Mumbai Indians' owners, the Ambani Family, are set to rebrand themselves as MI London after the new ownership takes effect from October 1, 2025.
